Janie Carswell

Janie Foster Carswell, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 5, 2016, at Physical Rehabilitation & Wellness Center of Spartanburg. Born April 30, 1930, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late William Louis Foster and Willie Mae White Foster and widow of James Carl Carswell, Sr. She was known as "Aunt Janie" to numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Mrs. Carswell enjoyed reading and loved to knit and crochet. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir at Harvest Baptist Church. She was retired from S&S Manufacturing. Survivors include her children, Judie Hayes (Dale) of Cross Anchor, SC, Becky Walker (Ricky) of Spartanburg, SC, and James Carswell, Jr. (Annette) of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Sean Nix, Stephanie Dixon, Rick Walker, Thomas Carswell, and Joseph Carswell (Amy); great-grandchildren, Tristen West, Brianna Vaughn, and Seralyn Dunn; and a sister, Irene Blackwell. Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Duncan and the Rev. Daniel Duncan. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
