Janie Burch

Janie Augusta Lanford Goodwin Burch, 90, of Spartanburg, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 14, 1922, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Hamilton and Ella Gladys Lanford. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Carlton Goodwin, and her second husband, Elmer Earl Burch Sr.; daughter, Carole Ruth Goins; and son-in-law, Dixie Goins. Janie and her first husband owned and operated Goodwin's Auto Service. She was a longtime member of Routh Memorial Presbyterian Church and currently St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was also a graduate of Winthrop College. Survivors include her daughters, Gladys Jean Steele (Ronald) of Chattanooga, TN, and Mary Rogers (Jack) of Charlotte, NC; stepson, Earl Burch (Scooty) of Clemson, SC; grandchildren, John Steele (Charla), Michael Steele (Jenny), Jimmy Goins (Stephanie), Nancy Geter (David), Kathryn Goins, Steven Rogers (Kim), and Katherine Rogers; step-grandchildren, Julia Seligson (Brian), Gregory Burch, Catherine Smith, and Christopher Burch; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev.
