Janice F. Stone

Janice F. Stone, age 85, passed away on December 13, 2023, in Spartanburg, SC. She was born on November 24, 1938, in Pelzer, SC to the late Thomas McDonald Fennell and Lidia Jordan Fennell. 

A graduate of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, Janice dedicated her life to teaching. For almost 30 years, she taught 7th-grade math and computers at Boiling Springs Jr. High. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom as she contributed over 30 years of teaching experience.

Outside of her career, Janice had a wide range of interests and hobbies. She had a genuine love for traveling and would often embark on mission trips and camping adventures. Whether exploring new places or helping families in need, Janice found joy in the simple pleasure of being on the move. Another passion that brought her fulfillment was sewing. With precision and creativity, she expressed her talent through fabric and thread. Deeply committed to making a positive difference, Janice helped families and children in need, extending kindness and compassion to those less fortunate. She also took great pride in her heritage and membership with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). 

Janice found strength within her faith and the community at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church for an incredible 53 years. She was a member of the "Love" Sunday school class, where her warm presence touched the lives of her fellow members.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Lydia Stone of Spartanburg, SC, and her son, Jason Stone (Frances) of Greer, SC; granddaughters, Vivian Stone and Lucy Stone of Greer, SC; her sister, Virginia Ragsdale and a host of extended family members. 

Predeceased by her husband, William Elmer "Slim" Stone, and sisters, Margaret Chapman and Grace Moore.

A visitation will be held on December 17, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 North Boiling Springs, SC 29316. 

The funeral service will follow on December 18, 2023, at 12:30 PM at the Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Danny Garrett. The burial will be held at 3:00 PM in Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303

Janice F. Stone will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education, her passion for helping others, and her contagious zest for life. The adoration she had for her grandchildren was more than could be imagined, and a heart full of love for her entire family. Her legacy lives on through the lives of those she touched—a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
