Janice Marie Dantin died November 6, 2024, twenty days short of her 78th birthday. Janice was born and raised in south Louisiana with the Mississippi River just yards from her front door. She graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where she met her husband, Bob. Bob and Janice eventually made their way to Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1980, where they have lived ever since. Bob and Janice were married 55 years and had one son, Jeremy.
Janice taught elementary school for approximately two decades in Louisiana, Georgia, and in Spartanburg. Janice was an artistic soul who enjoyed home décor, gardening and her other various projects. She loved good books, good music and good food (she was an exceptional cook – a talent she inherited from her parents). She was an avid baseball fan. While she was a huge supporter of the Atlanta Braves, she especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play countless baseball games for years all over the region. The three most important things in Janice’s life were her relationship with God as a devout Catholic, her incredibly devoted husband, and her son. However, her four grandchildren were her greatest source of joy and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with them.
Janice is survived by her husband, Robert Joseph Dantin, her son, Jeremy Andrew Dantin and his wife, Suzanne, as well as her grandchildren, Robert Joseph Dantin II, James Harrison Dantin, David Andrew Dantin, and Ansley Caroline Dantin. She is also survived by her nephew, Jason Tregre, son of her sister, Sandra Tregre, who died last year.
