Janet Pierce Reed, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on April 3, 2023. Janet was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on April 15, 1931, to the late Ethel Holloman and Thomas B. Pierce. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, June Bridgeman and Jean Rice.
Janet Reed was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a volunteer with Mobile Meals of Spartanburg. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School-Class of 1949. After attending Limestone College, Janet married the love of her life, Homer Cullen Reed Jr., on June 23, 1951. Janet and Cullen met while playing on a neighborhood sand pile at the age of eight and nine years old. They were lifelong sweethearts.
Janet was a homemaker and loving mom to her two children, Len and Susan, and adoring grandmother to her four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.
Janet is survived by her husband, Cullen, her son, Len Reed (Becky), her daughter, Susan Reed, and grandchildren, Cullen Reed IV, Garrett Reed (Allison), Courtney Martin (Connor), Wolfgang Reichard, and four great-grandchildren, Emerson, Evan, Hadley and Addy Reed. She is also survived by dearly loved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 18th, 2023, in the Sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg at 2:00. Visitation with the family will be after the service in the Perrin Room and Courtyard at the church.
A private inurnment service will be held for the family at 1:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Janet Reed may be made to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg or to the charity of your choice.
