Janet Landrum Francis, 89, of Spartanburg, SC passed away peacefully from natural causes on Friday, April 9, 2021, at White Oak Estates. Born July 28, 1931 in Jackson, MS, to Edwin and Ennice Landrum, she was the widow of Don Francis. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and MAT from Converse College, Janet taught many years in Spartanburg County District Six Schools, where she founded and coached Dorman High School Academic Team. Post-retirement she served as a Trustee to District Six Schools from 1993-2001. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Spartanburg County Library (1992-1997) and the Bethlehem Center (2005-2010). For these and other activities she was honored by Business and Professional Women as 1996 Woman of Achievement, and she served as past President of Alpha Mu Chapter and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Janet was a mentor with Spartanburg County Foundation Citizen Scholars Program (1995-2001). She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Athenaeum Book Club, Battle of Cowpens Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Jacob Blackwell Chapter, Society of Colonial Dames of America. Survivors include her children, Dr. Don L. Francis and wife Lynn of Hershey, PA, Claire F. Jackson and husband Billy of Rock Hill, SC, and Sue F. Pribilsky and husband Todd of Victoria, British Columbia; grandchildren, Emily Francis O'Brion and husband Cameron, Sara Francis Bland and husband Glenn, Lauren Hamilton Jackson, Suzanne Jackson Davenport and husband Charlie, Erin Pribilsky Proud and husband Khris, Kevin Pribilsky, and Reese Pribilsky and wife Jaydene, and great-grandchildren, Logan James O'Brion, Claire Chancellor O'Brion, Walker Maddox Bland, Thaddeus Axel Bland, Kennedy Laine Davenport, Kate Elizabeth Davenport, Haines Callis Proud, and Hazel Ann Proud. She was predeceased by grandson, Jay Jackson. Janet requested that memorials be donations of money, goods or services to any non-profit organization of choice that reaches out to feed, clothe, house and otherwise enhance the quality of life of less fortunate individuals. A memorial service will be held later this year due to COVID.
