Janet Irene Green Baker, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013. Born August 4, 1924, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Obed "O. A." and Beulah Satterfield Green and widow of Warren Ervin Baker, the love of her life for 52 years. Mrs. Baker was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She lived her life devoted to her Lord and family. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Jane Davidson of Boiling Springs, SC and Linda B. Painter (Dean) of Chesnee, SC; son, Richard W. Baker of Spartanburg; 7 grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-grandson; brothers, Jerry Green (Julie) of Prosperity, SC, Larry Green (Mildred) and Jackie Green (Shelby) of Spartanburg; and sister, Wilma Clubb (Ken) of Columbia, SC; 2 daughters-in-law, Marcia Baker and Catherine Baker; sister-in-law, Loree B. George; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a son, Donald Anthony "Tony" Baker; grandson, Blakely Warren Davidson; sister and brother-in-law George and Eva Mae Boyter; and son-in-law, Ronald "Ron" Vassey Davidson. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and Mr. Clary Smith. A committal service will follow in the Chapel. Burial will be private. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Mountainview Nursing Home for their compassion and care and for all the "Dolls", as Mama called them, for everything they did for her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family is at their respective homes.
