Jane Hiester

Jane Elizabeth Powell Hiester, 84 of Boiling Springs, SC, died Monday, November 21, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 21, 1937 in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Christine Rankin Powell and the wife of the late Reverend Ronald Norman Hiester.

Jane attended Moravian University and earned her associate degree from Cecil College. She retired as a medical office manager.

Jane was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church where she served as President of the Daughters of the King, President of the Episcopal Church Women, and served on the Vestry. She enjoyed reading, needlework, and shopping.

Survivors include her children, Nanci J. Shrout of Spartanburg, SC, Wendy Sue Gilbert (Richard) of North East, MD, and Paul R. Hiester (Charlene) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Broadway, Michael Shrout, Anne Sandbek, Braden Hiester, Krista Mascia, Andrew Mascia, and Rachel  Hiester Myers; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Donald Powell of Princeton, NJ; and her beloved cat, Barney.

A Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 4180 Hwy. 9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by The Rev. David Rodrick. Entombment will be at St. John’s Church in Florence, SC at a later date.
