Jane Covington

Jane Wilkerson Covington, 81, of Moore, SC entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from complications of pneumonia. Born in Blackstone, VA on February 22, 1937, Jane was raised in Rock Hill, SC, where she received her primary education at Winthrop Training School, graduating in 1955. She attended Agnes Scott College, Winthrop University, Erskine College, and (finally) graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1959, earning a BA in Christian Education, while her husband attended Asbury Theological Seminary. She was the widow of Rev. James Wakefield Covington and the daughter of the late James Andrew Wilkerson, Jr. and Ila Mae Hutto Wilkerson. Jane was a loving wife and mother, serving the Lord faithfully as a minister's wife throughout her career. She loved beauty and laughter, creating a warm and loving atmosphere in all of the parsonages and homes in which her family lived. She enjoyed her weekly Bridge games and attended the ACTS Sunday School Class at Morningside Church. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Covington of the home; her son, Andrew "Sandy" Covington of Greenville, SC; her brother, Forrest Wilkerson (Totty) of Rock Hill, SC; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wilkerson of Park City, UT; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. James Green (Kay) of Spartanburg, SC; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her older brother, James Andrew Wilkerson, III of Park City, UT. Visitation will be 11:00-11:45 AM Friday, March 9, 2018, at Morningside Baptist Church, with funeral services following at 12:00 noon, conducted by The Rev. Steven Owensby. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
