James Wooten, Sr.

James Wooten, Sr., 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 in York County, SC. Born November 7, 1931, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late James Edward and Nannie May Morris Wooten, and husband of the late Mary Louise Wooten. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Wooten served with the Spartanburg City Fire Department for 30 years and was a member of Arkwright Baptist Church. Surviving are his sons, James Wooten Jr., Robert Jackson Wooten, and Ronald Lee Wooten, all of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, William "Bud" Wooten; and sister, Shirley Pack. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Jack Wooten. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Keith Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James Wooten, Sr. Memorial Fund, PO Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
