James William Easler, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Physical Rehab & Wellness Center. Born April 18, 1931, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Herbert and Louise Easler and husband of the late Doris Bishop Easler. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Easler served in the 5th Regiment Combat Team and was an "Outpost Harry Survivor". He loved his country and during his service he sent his mother and father many letters about his time and the difficult periods he encountered. Family and friends lived those stories with him every day. "So Daddy, today we salute you." He was a graduate of Cecil's Business College, retired from Duke Power Company, and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Converse Masonic Lodge. He leaves behind a son, Chris Easler of Chesnee, SC; daughter, Bebe Miles (Mac) of Chesnee, SC; grandchildren, Will Bailey (Amy), Katie Prater (Ervin), and Elizabeth Boyd; great-grandchildren, Anna Gray, Emma, and Willow; sister, Shalmer Moore of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Charles Easler of Spartanburg, SC, Joe Easler, Marvin Easler, and Butch Easler, all of Edgefield, SC.
