James Welch

James Calvin Welch, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Dillon Pointe-Spartanburg. He was born September 5, 1926, in Detroit, MI. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Welch retired as comptroller of Siemens Corporation. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Detroit, MI, an active choir member in several churches, as well as a member of a number of barbershop quartet groups. He was also a member of Western Carolina Sail Club for 25 years and served as Commodore and a former Board member. Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia Kelly Welch; daughter, The Rev. Barbara Leigh Welch and her husband James Abbott of Ardmore, PA; son, William James Welch of Pottersville, NJ; granddaughters, Clara Platter, Charlotte Abbott, Beatrice Abbott, Eleanor Abbott, Isabella Welch, and Tessa Welch; and sister, Dolores Kayganich of Detroit, MI.
