James Daniel Waldrup, 74, of Boiling Springs, died Friday, January 1, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center-Mary Black Campus. He was born February 19, 1946 in Charlottesville, VA, a son to the late James Roy and Gladys Blalock Waldrup. A graduate of North Carolina State University and Central Piedmont Community College, James attended First Baptist Church-Spartanburg, was a former member of The Civitans, and retired from Covington Industries. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a loyal friend. James is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Kay Hatley Waldrup; his children, Michelle Waldrup and Ashley Waldrup of the home, and Michael Waldrup of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Taylor Waldrup, Amber Waldrup, Nia Waldrup, Chance Waldrup, Alayna Waldrup, Mason Waldrup and Zoey Waldrup; a great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Waldrup; a sister, Pat Wagoner (David) of Denton, NC; and a brother, Jerry Waldrup of Palestine, NC. A memorial service will be held at a later date. No flowers please.
