James "Skinny" Floyd Thompson, 84, of Pacolet, SC, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born December 31, 1929, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Willie "Hoss" and Marie Pugh Thompson. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Thompson was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church and a Central Pacolet City Councilman. He was employed with Hoechst Celanese as a supervisor for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Annette Jones Thompson; son, Clint H. Thompson (Jane Sprouse) of Pacolet, SC; grandchildren, Angel Thompson (Steven Gilliam) and Jamie Powell (James), all of Central Pacolet, SC, and Rustin James Thompson of Waterloo, SC; great-grandchildren, Anthony Gilliam, Jordan Gilliam, Katie Powell, and Katlyne Powell, all of Central Pacolet, SC; a brother, Bill Thompson, Jr. (Harriett) of Pacolet, SC; nephew, Rick Thompson of Pacolet, SC; and niece, Beverly Deyton of Gaffney, SC. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Norman Band. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
