James Ronald Rogers, 77, of Wellford, SC, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 29, 1937, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late James Hubert and Mamie Lee Carver Rogers. A U. S. Air Force and National Guard veteran, Mr. Rogers retired from the Spartanburg Herald-Journal as a graphic artist after 34 years of service. He was a graduate of North Greenville University, an author, publisher, and also wrote three blogs. He loved Civil War history, was a history buff, avid genealogist, and photographer. Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Edna Norwood Rogers; children, Michael D. Rogers (Bridgette) of Wellford, SC, Tony Rogers (Tina) of Lyman, SC, and Kirsten Stancell (Mike) of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Jean Davenport (Ralph) of Boiling Springs; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 adopted children; 1 adopted grandchild; 2 adopted great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Sara Elizabeth Hoover and Mary Howland; and many friends who loved him. Visitation will be 3:00-3:30 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
