James Edison Ray, 79, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Thursday, October 2, 2014. Born July 14, 1935, in Pine, MO, he was the son of the late Alvie and Bessie Ray. A U. S. Army veteran, Sergeant 1st Class Ray (Ret) served in Vietnam. He was a member of Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church and retired from the U. S. Army. He was also employed with Terminex and Orkin. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Sieglinde "Linda" Ray; children, Michele Ray McKelvey (Scott), Rene Ray Ford (Tony), and Gordon James Ray (Jennifer). James was the loving grandfather to Jacob, Ethan, and Abbey Ray, Sean McKelvey, and Michalee and Ellie Ford. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ray; and a granddaughter, Madison Raye Ford. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:45 PM Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Phillip A. Coggins. Burial with military rites will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
