James Brown

October 3, 1931 — January 19, 2017

James Carroll "Pete" Brown, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 3, 1931, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Charles Lloyd and Eula McDowell Brown. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Brown was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended Furman University and was a retired photographer. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha Koon Brown; sister, Gayle Brown Littlejohn of Asheville, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; and his canine best friend, "Mollie". In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Kenneth Brown. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017, in the Parlor at St. John's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Shackelford and the Rev. Emily Edenfield. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Honorary escort are members of the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home team and employees of AgSouth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Capital Campaign, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
