James "Paul" Pruitt, 82, of Spartanburg, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Park Place. Born December 28, 1927 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Hollis and Iva Smith Pruitt. He and his wife, Merle Lowery Pruitt, celebrated their 50 year anniversary on February 13, 2010. He was a retired auto mechanic with Burns Ford of Chesnee, a member of the Church of God out of Cleveland, TN, and was a long time volunteer for Messiah's Ministry of Love. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Douglas Pruitt of Chester; a grandson, Paul D. Pruitt, Jr. of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Krystal Pruitt of Madison, GA; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Pruitt of Roebuck and J. Thomas Pruitt of Inman; a sister, Virginia Miller of Parris Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, July 2, 2010 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by Pastor Raymond Ford, Sr. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens.
