James Ollive

James John Ollive, 83, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Dillon Pointe. Born December 7, 1927, in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine Cullen Ollive. Mr. Ollive was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. He retired from the U. S. Postal service in Boston, MA, and was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include five stepdaughters, Barbara H. Allen of Spartanburg, Judy G. Moses of Marietta, GA, Rae Perrotta of Spartanburg, Eileen Vertullo of Boston, MA, and Rita Smith of Spartanburg; a brother, John J. Ollive of Raleigh, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his lifelong partner, Yettiv V. Hall; a sister, Margaret Lynch; and a brother, Francis Ollive. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Monday, June 6, 2011, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by Chaplain Dean Cortese. Burial, with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team, will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Adams, Andrew Dixon, Dale Shockley, David Allen, Nicholas Allen, and Jacob Allen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice Services, 818-A East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
