James Martin Miller, 78, of Roebuck, SC, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his home after a courageous battle of 13 years with renal cell carcinoma. Born July 12, 1939, in Roebuck, he was the son of the late Augustine and Annabel Arnold Miller. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. A veteran of the South Carolina National Guard, Mr. Miller attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Clemson University. He retired from Milliken & Company and was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Ann Martin Miller; daughters, Anna Miller Knight (Aldon) of Roebuck, SC and Leigh Miller Whitfield (Warren) of Pace, FL; grandchildren, Martin Christopher Groke, Kathryn Almeade Groke, Lillian Grace Groke, William Lewis Whitfield, and Anna Caroline Whitfield; brother, Crawford Lee Miller of Roebuck, SC; sisters, Doris Miller Hipp and Joan Miller Cogdill (Robert), all of Roebuck, SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Mary Miller Williams. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery, by The Rev. Richard Thomas, The Rev. Brian McCullough, and The Rev. David Sanders. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1399 Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. The family appreciates the care given by all of the doctors and medical staff, with special appreciation given to Dr. Farhan Siddiqui and nurse practitioner, Alyssa Zalar.
