James Lee McFalls, a resident of Spartanburg South Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, in Cowpens after a long illness. He was born on March 2, 1940, in Spartanburg, and was the son of the late Ernest and Ollie McFalls. He was the devoted husband to Judy Gossett McFalls for 37 years,
James loved his blended family and those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy of the home, a brother, Ray McFalls, and a sister, Janice Greene, children, Terry McFalls, (Laura), Philip McFalls, (Ronna), Jennifer Mills, (Michael), Bryson Mills, (Niki) and Bridgette Robertson; six grandchildren, Blake Mills, Macy McFalls, Andrew Mills, Christina Hayes, McKenzie Scruggs, Ashley Hayes and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Mason and Colton Greenway.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Fletcher, Stanley and Willie B.
James was a hardworking individual who dedicated his career to the textile industry. He was proud that his skills in repairing the machines, kept the plant operating smoothly. Outside of work, James had a vibrant personality that touched the lives of those around him. He was known for his incredible sense of humor and quick wit. His jokes and laughter would brighten any room. James had an extraordinary ability to make people smile even during the toughest times.
A selfless and compassionate man, James always put others before himself. He found joy in serving and helping those in need. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor or helping his family members, he was always willing to serve when asked.
In his free time, James pursued two of his great passions: car racing and tinkering with things. As an avid racing fan, he never missed an opportunity to attend races or cheer on his favorite drivers. Additionally, James enjoyed getting his hands dirty while working on various projects. He loved fixing and building things, constantly seeking new challenges that would keep him engaged.
One of James' proudest accomplishments was nurturing a beautiful garden filled with vibrant flowers in his yard. He spent countless hours tending to them with care and dedication, transforming his yard into a colorful oasis for all to enjoy. Alongside this endeavor, he also maintained an impressive vegetable garden that provided nourishment for both himself and loved ones.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. This will be followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM in the same location. The burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Rev. Mike Davis will officiate the services.
