James Matthews

James Lee Matthews, 71, of Inman, SC passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Roy Lee and Faye Henderson Matthews.

Mr. Matthews loved fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and in his younger years was a softball player. He watched Gunsmoke all the time. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with people. He was a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren and will be missed greatly by his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Sonya Tate of Inman and Jamie Sawyers (Alan) of Tennessee; grandchildren, Nikki Tate, Josh Tate, and Casey Tate of Inman and Asia Sawyers, Deshon Sawyers, and Alissa Sawyers of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Jaden Bishop, Braden Bishop, and Alyssa Bishop of Inman; and sister, Lynn Epply of Oregon.
