James Lawing Sr.

James "Bo" Albert Lawing Sr., 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, and went to his heavenly home, now walking the streets of gold. Born January 16, 1935, in Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late John Calvin Lawing and Mary Ornor Morrow Lawing. A U. S. Army National Guard veteran, Mr. Lawing retired from Hoechst Celanese after 20 years of service. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church-Cowpens where he worshiped and served the Lord. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Hill Rudicill Lawing of the home; sons, Terry Lawing (Nancy) of Union, SC, James A. Lawing Jr. (Emma) of Chesnee, SC, and Michael Lawing (Debbie) of Woodruff, SC; eight grandchildren, Stacy Lawson (Rev. Chad), Tori Lawing, Chris Lawing (Kristy), Rena Burnett, Brittany Lawing, Nick Lawing, Jenniffer Blalock (Jake), and Ashley Childress (Kirk); nine great-grandchildren, Hunter Lawson, Erica Burnett, Bobby "Bo" Burnett, Jami Davis, Kalynn Directo, Damon Carter Lawing, Harrison Lawson, Anna Lawing, and Marlee Blalock; brother, John William "Sam" Lawing of Boiling Springs, SC; three stepchildren, Jackie Rudicill, Kathy Quinn, and David Rudicill; and four step-grandchildren, Heather and Dylan Rudicill and Craig and Chris Quinn. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mazie Corrine Waddell Lawing; sisters, Maude Quillen, Virginia Lawing, Alma Gray, Francis Emory, Myrtle Lowery, Eula Mae Smith, Leona Tisdale, Lucille Henson; and brothers, Earl Lawing and Roy Lawing. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by The Rev. Henry Coley. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
