James Lancaster, Jr.

James Brown "Beaver" Lancaster, Jr., 72, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at his residence. Born on November 22, 1941 in Spartanburg, he was a son of James Brown Lancaster, Sr. and Irene Smith Lancaster. He was a retired tree surgeon. Mr. Lancaster is survived by his wife, Vivian Kay Cartee Lancaster; his son, James Lancaster, III; his daughter, Amanda Gates; his sisters, Donna Tripp, Nancy Waters and Gloria Wilkie; his brother, Richard Lancaster; and his grandchildren, Robert Gates, Owen Lancaster, "Andy" Lancaster and Kelsey Gates. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Drayton Baptist Church, 11 Floyd Street, Drayton, SC, 29333, conducted by the Rev. Barry Snead.
