James "Jim" Martin Keesler, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 1, 1935, in Clarksville, GA, he was the son of the late Robert Lamar Keesler and Mary Berry Keesler. A 1959 graduate of Wofford College, Mr. Keesler retired as former Vice President of Arkwright Mills after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, greeter, and Sunday School director. He was also past president of the Spartanburg Executive Sertoma Club, formerly on the Board of Directors for the SC Textile Manufacturers Association, Spartanburg Development Association, Spartanburg County Historical Association, and a 1982 graduate of Leadership Spartanburg. A true Christian southern gentleman, devoted to his family, he enjoyed reading and ballroom dancing. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Seay Keesler; sons, James M. "Rusty" Keesler of Spartanburg, SC and Gregory D. Keesler of Moore, SC; brother, Robert W. Keesler of Hallandale, FL; and one niece. Visitation will be 11:30 AM-12:45 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton and the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class will be honorary escort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
