James Johnson

James Charles "Cut" Johnson, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his home. Born June 22, 1925, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Henry Johnson and Eva May Johnson and husband of the late Helen Barnett Johnson. A World War II Navy Veteran, Mr. Johnson was retired after 30 years at Powdercraft Corporation, then continued working and retired after 25 years at the Chapman Cultural Center. He was loving and devoted to his wife, family, and friends. Mr. Johnson was a wonderful gardener and was like a little kid at Christmas. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie J. Lindsay (Steve) of Spartanburg, SC; son, Randy J. Johnson (Linda) of Duncan, SC; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ronnie Johnson of Albemarle, NC and Gordon Johnson of Houston, TX. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by daughters, Billie Ann Johnson and Donna Fay Johnson; son, Bobby Joe Johnson; two sisters and one brother. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dawn and Donnie Hayes, Mr. Johnson's granddaughter and her husband, who were his most loving primary caregivers. Visitation will be held 2:30-3:45 PM on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 4:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in Cedar Spring Cemetery, Cedar Spring Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302, with military rites.
