James Brown

James "Jim" Walter Brown, 79, of Pacolet, SC, died Monday, November 28, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 26, 1937, in Cherokee Springs, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur C. Brown and Kathleen Wood Brown. A ten year veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Mr. Brown retired from Draper Corporation after 25 years of service in the maintenance department. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church and the Pacolet Lion's Club. He also loved fishing, gardening, building martin bird houses, and Atlanta Braves baseball. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Catherine Padgett Brown of the home; daughters, Karen Bright (Johnny) of Spartanburg, SC and Paulette Robison (Richard) of Blacksburg, SC; sons, Randy Brown of Spartanburg, SC, David Brown (Linda) and Chuck Brown (Lori) all of Pacolet, SC, and Ricky Mack of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Chasidy Crisp, Heather Farmer, Joseph Robison, Carrie Nenonen, Heath Brown, Heather Pettit, Larren Franks, Dasia Brown, Dayla Brown, Austin Brown and Landon Brown; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, A. C. Brown of Boiling Springs, SC, Ted Brown of Columbus, NC and Bill Brown of Sumter, SC; sisters Edith Stephens of Spartanburg, SC and Jean Page of Greenville, SC; and his special Chihuahua friend "Holly". In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruby Davis. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, 350 Green St., Pacolet, SC 29372, by the Rev. Ralph Jett. Burial, with military rites, will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
