James Hooper

James Edward Hooper, 74, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at his home. Born March 3, 1936, in Bridgeport, WV, he was a son of the late David Coleman and Caroline Morgan Hooper and was the husband of the late Carolyn Sue Hooper. He was the owner of Hooper Pest Control, which he established in 1973, and was a member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church, where he was Chairman of Deacons. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Hooper Gaskins of Spartanburg and Brenda Hooper Bartlett of Inman; two sons, Jimmy Hooper of Spartanburg and David Hooper and wife Kelly of Chesnee; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Hooper Swiger and husband, Arnold of Wallace, WV; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia H. Starkey, and two brothers, Howard and Richard Hooper. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Davis Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hall and the Rev. Keith Swiger. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
