James C. "Jim" Grant, 86, of Drayton, SC, died Friday, March 9, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 26, 1932 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Robert L. Grant and Augusta Idell Sepulveda Grant. As a U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Grant served as a Combat Medic during the Korean War, while earning two Bronze Stars. Upon returning home, he spent the majority of his career as a truck driver, eventually retiring from Gaines Motor Lines. He enjoyed a number of hobbies, ranging from woodworking and photography to flying and kayaking. Jim was a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Miriam McAbee Grant; sons, James Grant, Jr., Richard Grant, and Neal (Kelli) Grant; grandsons, Jacob Grant and Noah Grant. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by siblings, Robert Grant Jr., Charles Grant, and Wanda Glenn. Graveside services, with full military honors conducted American Legion Post #28, will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2018 in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. F. Ed Traxler, Jr. The family request no flowers, and that any memorials be made to the Spartanburg Regional Foundation, P.O.
