James Foster

James David "Jimmy" Foster, 66, of Spartanburg, entered into the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior Saturday, February 26, 2011. Born November 27, 1944, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Oland A. and Helen Vinson Foster. He served his Lord and those he loved with faithfulness and diligence using his many talents of woodworking, mechanizing, and character building. Mr. Foster was retired from Crown Cork and Seal after 30 years of service and 15 years at Roebuck Builders. He was an active member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Adults I class, an Awana worker, AMRB Wednesday Men's Prayer Group, was a volunteer carpenter at Carolina Pregnancy Center, and a former deacon at Canaan Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Betty Blake Foster; two sons, Randy James (Krisila Newman) Foster of Boiling Springs, and Paul Raymond (Tammie) Foster of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Blake Foster, Josh Foster, Krista Foster, Parker Foster, Dustin (Amber) Williams, and Brandie Williams (Chris) Humphries; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Betty Dill, Ruby (Mike) Roberts, Jo (Joe) Valatka all of Spartanburg, and Ruth (Tommy) Blake of Roebuck. He was predeceased by a brother, Oland A. Foster, Jr. and a sister, Juanita Lambert. Visitation will be 2:30-3:45 PM on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. D. J. Horton and the Rev. Joel Gardner. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369; or Canaan Baptist Church, 701 Canaan Road, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home of Randy and Krisila Foster, 225 Mountain Range Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
