James "Jimmy" Roy Forbis, 68, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, January 19 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 9, 1952 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Martha Burdette Forbis of Spartanburg, SC and the late Marvin James Forbis. Mr. Forbis dedicated 38 years of service to Jones Tractor Company. He was a commissioner at Whitney Fire District, a volunteer fireman at Whitney Fire Department, taught EMT classes at Spartanburg Community College, and worked in the Wound Center at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mr. Forbis was a member at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member of the Care Class. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Virginia "Jenny" Kirby Forbis; sons, Chris Pack of Woodstock, Ga and his wife Kellie and Jason Forbis of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren Madison, Bray, Bella, Brayden, and Cannon; sisters, Judy Kilgore of Albemarle, NC and Deb Henderson of Inman, SC and her husband Jeff; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Mr. Forbis was a loving husband, father, "Poppy" to his grandchildren, and loved his family dearly. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday January 24, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 and will be conducted by the Rev. Danny Garrett. Mr. Forbis will be honorarily escorted to the graveside by the Whitney Fire Department. Visitation will follow graveside. The family is at the home of Virginia Forbis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Forbis' honor to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church General Fund, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
