James Edward Franklin, 77, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Friday, November 16, 2012. Born January 17, 1935 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Connie Arthur and Ethel Mae Waters Franklin and husband of Jean Cooksey Franklin. He was retired from Progress Lighting and a member of Hope Baptist Church which he founded in 1986 and was pastor at the church until 2009. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Surviving are son, David Franklin and his wife Candy of Moore; daughters, Pamela Davis and her husband Jeffrey of Franklin, TN and Teresa Varnum of Boiling Springs; grandsons, Bram Varnum, Trey Davis, Jamison Franklin, and Nate Davis; granddaughter, November Varnum; brother, John Franklin of Tulsa, OK; and sisters, Rachael White of Converse and Ruth Strickland of Spartanburg, Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Paul Smith. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
