James Kenneth Dye, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 9, 1930, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Orrie M. "O. M." Dye and Jessie Mae Nations Dye. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Dye retired from CSX Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, a former member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, a Mason and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Lawter Dye; daughter, Teri Dye Peeler (Joseph Robert) of Roebuck, SC; three grandchildren, Christy Conn (Travis) of Pauline, SC, Rosanne Nettles (Gene) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Robyn Landmesser (Rick) of Pauline, SC; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Lee Dye of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Libby Dye. A service honoring his memory will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Liberty United Methodist Church, 2095 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303, by the Rev. Andrew Wolfe and the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
