James Donald Miller, 89, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at his home. Born June 16, 1922, in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late John James and Marie West Miller, and husband of the late Evelyn Lanford Miller. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U. S. Army, 79th Infantry Division, during World War II, and received four Battle Stars and a Purple Heart for combat wounds in France. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where he was part of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was employed at the Spartanburg Herald Journal. Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Miller Hyatt and Christine Miller Hyatt, both of Pauline; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward R. Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 19, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Bill Adams. Visitation will follow in the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
