James Earl "Mullet" Day, 82, of 121 Oakleaf Drive, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 20, 1929 in Louden, TN, he was the son of the late Samuel Eddie and Pauline Rhymer Day. A 1952 graduate of Wofford College, he retired as an accountant with Spartan Foods and later from H & R Block after 20 years of service. Mr. Day was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as Lt. Colonel from the National Guard after 24 years of service. He was of the Episcopal faith, a Vestry member, and Senior Warden. Survivors include his wife, Ann Wheeler Day; daughters, Martha Elizabeth "Lisa" Nadel and Kelly Wheeler Hinson and husband Darren; a granddaughter, Miranda Patricia Nadel; and furry companions, Patches and Bandit. He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Patricia Day. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Steve Holler, the Rev. Sue Perrin, and the Rev. Gene Baker. Visitation will follow the service in the sanctuary.
