James Cudd, Jr.

James William Cudd, Jr., 89, of 3848 Maid Marion Lane, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 26, 1921 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late James William Cudd, Sr. and Gladys Burgess Cudd. He retired from Piedmont Steel, Inc. with over 40 years of service and was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Spartanburg Blood Bank, a member of St. John Masonic Lodge # 333 where he recently received his 60 year membership pin, was Potentate of Hejaz Shrine Temple in 1977, past president of the Spartanburg Shrine Club, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Valrey Wood Cudd; a daughter, Janice Cudd Sanders of Spartanburg; a son, Ronald C. Cudd and wife Sheril H. of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Edward Cudd of Spartanburg; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Tamie C. Bastarache and Elissa Darlene Cudd; and a grandson, James H. Cudd. Visitation will be 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services with military rites will follow at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by Mr. Mike Wood.
