James E. "Jimmy" Covil, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Magnolia Place. Born April 8, 1940, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Roy Eugene and Francis Simmons Covil and husband of the late Betty Jean Bailey Covil. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Covil was formerly employed with Reeves Brothers and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his children, Valerie Covil Hollifield (Dana) of Spruce Pine, NC, Michael Alan Covil (Renee) of Inman, SC, Timothy Ray Covil (Lori) of Pampa, TX, Alisha Covil Coffin (Aaron) of Hendersonville, NC, Robbie Covil Peters (David) of Inman, SC, and Darren Scott Covil of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Nikki, James, Kayla, Brittany, Jessica, Gracie, Jack, Stephen, Rebecca, and McKenzie; and sister, Nina Horton (Bobby). A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Ft. Prince Rd., Wellford, SC 29385, by Dr. Reggie Parker. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post #28. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
