James Thomas Cooksey, 64 years old, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. James was born November 17, 1949, in Spartanburg, SC to the late William Dupre and Ovella Womick Cooksey. James is survived by his wife of 47 years, Freida Yarborough Cooksey; his sons, Chris Cooksey (Jessie) and James Cooksey (Kimberly); his daughter, Nikkie Corbin (Scott); ten grandchildren, Christopher, Johnny, Zachary, Hannah, Becca, Matthew, Gabrielle, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Chloe; and two sisters, Dorothy Bogan (Don) and Brenda Haywood. He is predeceased by two brothers, Robert Cooksey and William Cooksey. James worked 42 years in various plants including Clifton Mill, Arkwright Mill, Drayton Mill, Catawba Knits, and Ameritex Yarns. As a teenager and young adult, he attended Clifton Church of God. Later, he attended North Spartanburg Church of God. In his final years, he attended Truth Chapel World Evangelism Fellowship Church. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, August 8, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by Pastor Scott Corbin. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
