James Christian

James Marvin Christian, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at his home. Born May 16, 1935, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Hugh and Lillian Putman Christian. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Christian loved his family, children, and grandchildren. He retired from the Spartanburg Post Office and also served as a Spartanburg County police officer. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Rachel Simmons Christian; daughters, Sharon Ponder of Moore, SC and Shelia Melton of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Justin Ponder of Charlotte, NC and Sammy Schrimsher of Spartanburg, SC; and sisters, Brenda Reynolds and Pat Christian, both of Spartanburg, SC. He was predeceased by his son, Steve Christian. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, May 4, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM, conducted by The Rev. Jones Brewer. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
