After many years of service to his Lord, James Carl Carswell, 85, of Spartanburg, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Born October 20, 1927, in York, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Love Childers Carswell. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Carswell was retired from Goodyear Rubber Company and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosa Jane Foster Carswell; children, Judie Hayes (Dale) of Cross Anchor, SC, Becky Walker (Ricky) of Boiling Springs, SC, and James Carswell, Jr. (Annette) of Inman, SC; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Burnett of Chesnee, SC. Visitation will be 10:00-11:15 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Duncan and the Rev. Daniel Duncan. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
