James Rogers

James C. "Jim" Rogers, 87, of Chesnee, SC, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 12, 1927, in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late George Smith Rogers and Minnie Hall Rogers. A U. S Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Rogers was a selfless man who was loved by all and who loved his Lord, family, and friends. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, formerly employed as an 18 wheel truck driver/salesman for "Krispy Kreme" of Spartanburg, and retired Guest Ambassador at Spartanburg Medical Center after 18 years of service. Jim was the former music director at First Wesleyan Church, Mountain View Baptist Church, and Green Creek First Baptist Church. He also attended Cecil's Business College. Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Betty O'Brien Rogers; children, Janice R. Kiser (Mike) of Shelby, NC, Danny Rogers (Dianna) of Inman, SC, Tom Rogers and Eric Rogers (Cathy), all of Chesnee, SC; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 honorary grandchildren; and former daughters-in-law, Bok Lei, Cheryl, and Judy. He was predeceased by a son, Philip Rogers. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, October 20, 2014, at Mountain View Baptist Church, 5555 Parris Bridge Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316, by the Rev. Tyler Kirby and the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina, Designation: "He Heals" Team, 212 South Tryon Street #1080, Charlotte, NC 28281.
