James Rogers

James A. ‘Buddy' Rogers, 90, of Inman, SC died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Golden Age Nursing Home. Born April 10, 1920 in Oneonta, AL, he was the son of the late James Farmer and Myrtie Jane Fore Rogers. He was predeceased by his first wife, Maxine Malone Rogers and his second wife, Iva Mae Heatherington Evatt Rogers. Buddy was a U.S. Marine veteran from World War II, a member of the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, the Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #372, and the first Fire Chief for North Spartanburg Fire Department. He retired from the Southern Railroad where he was employed for 41 years. Survivors include a son, Joel Rogers and his wife Lori of Greenville; a daughter, Nancy Brannon of Inman; three granddaughters, Kelly Fairfield and her husband Roland, Megan Harmon and her husband John, and Jessica Peters and her husband Wesley; two grandsons, Casey Brannon and Jeremy Rogers; three great-granddaughters, Brooke Fairfield, Campbell Jane Peters, and Carson Ann Peters; and a great-grandson, John Parker Harmon. Visitation will be at the home of his daughter, Nancy Brannon, 148 Hickory Hill Dr., Inman, SC from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Greenlawn memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev Bobby Lindsay. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
