James Bishop

James "Jim" William Bishop, 62, of Effingham, SC, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, at his home. Born November 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Cletus Lee Bishop and Virginia Brian Bishop. Jim never met a stranger, loved people, was a devoted "shagger", and had Myrtle Beach sand in his shoes! A member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Jim attended the former Baptist College of Charleston and was a graduate of Georgia Southern University. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Early in his career he was a mortgage broker and later an associate with Sam Evatt Clothiers for 10 years. Surviving are his beloved companion and wife of 26 years, Beverly Rowe Bishop; children, Jennifer Mobley Stone and Joseph Aaron Mobley, both of Florence, SC; and grandchildren, Erin LeighAnn Stone and Connor Layne Stone. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Monday, September 21, 2015, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton. Burial will be in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, 9321 Hwy 9, Inman, SC 29349.
