James Arthur Burnett, 86, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 11, 2024 surrounded by his family. James was born on July 20, 1938 in Union, SC to the late Jesse and Eloise Burnett. 

 For 20 years, James served in law enforcement, retiring from the Spartanburg City Police Department, as a Detective. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and a member of The Royal Sunday School Class. 

His wife, Judy, was the love of his life. Spending time with her and their family brought him the greatest happiness. James is survived by his loving wife Judy, daughters Sherri Ray (Rock) and Lisa Frazier; a son; Barry Burnett (Jill), Seven grandchildren; Brittany McCaskill (Price), Courtney Peters (Drew), Michelle Turner (Ryan), Devin Burnett (Sophie), Jacob Burnett (Mia), Nick Frazier (Anna), Natalie Scaffe (Brandon); Eight great- grandchildren; Mason, Sawyer, and Jameson Burnett; Bowen and Mills McCaskill, Townsend and Rowan Peters, and Reese Turner; Brothers Jerry Burnett and Lewis Burnett and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son-in-law, Ed Frazier and one brother, Harold Burnett. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 pm Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg SC 29302. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial service will be private.
