Jacqueline “Jackie” Poston Steadings, 86, of Roebuck, SC, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at her home. Born August 30, 1936 in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late Herman Newell and Louise Pigate Poston. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Broadus Milton (Jack) Steadings and her son, Benjamin Milton Steadings.
Jacqueline was a faithful member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher for the children’s ministry and for adult women. She also taught the deaf Sunday School class and interpreted for the worship service. She was also a faithful member of the Cedar Spring choir. Jacqueline retired from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, where she worked for 19 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her four children, Stephen Wayne Steadings (Cynthia) of Seneca, Melinda Steadings Mabry (Ozzie) of Pauline, Kimberly Steadings Ledford (Dean) of Roebuck and Joy Steadings Harakas (Tim) of Spartanburg; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Charlotte Pruitt, Kathy Wilson and Glenda Sparnell; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Reverends Ozzie Mabry, Todd Lowe and Richard Thomas. Visitation will follow in the chapel. A private committal will be held. Jacqueline’s grandsons will serve as pall bearers. The family will be at the home of Dean and Kim Ledford.
