Jack Arthur Turner, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of his community, passed away on October 11, 2023, in his hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was born on June 10, 1943, to James Arthur Turner and Avis Stephens Turner.
Jack led a fulfilling life that was defined by his dedication to family and the trucking industry. He spent the majority of his career driving trucks and eventually became a supervisor in the trucking industry before retiring. Jack's hard work, determination, and leadership skills made him highly respected among his colleagues.
While he had a successful career, Jack will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He had an uncanny ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him. Whether it was through his witty remarks or playful banter, Jack had a unique talent for creating vibrant and lighthearted moments that will forever be treasured by his loved ones.
In addition to his charming personality, Jack possessed a distinct southern charm that endeared him to everyone he met. He held conservative values close to his heart and was known for being protective of his family. Jack's devotion to his wife, Dixy, was unparalleled as he continuously showered her with love and affection. Theirs was a love story that inspired many, even though they were complete opposites—a true testament to the power of romance.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and endearing personality traits, Jack lived a well-rounded life filled with various interests. For years, he enjoyed golfing with his friends at Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff. This shared passion for the sport brought forth countless memorable moments on the green. Jack valued personal fitness and maintained an active lifestyle throughout his years. His commitment to staying healthy served as an inspiration to those who knew him best.
In addition to these achievements, one of Jack's proudest accomplishments came in the form of family. Alongside Dixy, he adopted their granddaughter, Brianna, when she was just three and a half years old. Jack poured his heart and soul into raising her with love and unwavering support, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her to thrive in.
Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dixy Moore Turner, who stood beside him through thick and thin. His son, Jack Arthur Turner, Jr., will carry on his father's spirit of resilience and love. Brianna Moore Turner, the precious granddaughter they raised together, will forever cherish the guidance he provided her with. Jack's passing is mourned not only by his immediate family but also by his extended family of cousins, golfing buddies, close friends, and all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him throughout the years.
Visitation for Jack Arthur Turner, Sr. will be held on October 16, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with Pastor Mason Cantey officiating. The burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
