Jack Fortner Sr.

Jackie "Jack" Eugene Fortner Sr., 82, of Chesnee, SC, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Valley Falls Terrace-Spartanburg. Born July 18, 1935, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Fortner Sr. and Pearlie Mae Johnson Fortner. A U. S. Army veteran and retired from Reeves Bros., Mr. Fortner was a member of Casey Creek Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher. Surviving are his wife, Martha Jean McCarter Fortner; sons, Jackie Fortner Jr. (Meredith) and Mark Fortner, all of Boiling Springs, SC, Luke Fortner (Pam) of Lyman, SC, and John Fortner (Lisa) of New Prospect, SC; grandchildren, Mark Fortner II, Lauren Fortner, Taylor Christophersen, Savannah Fortner, Zach Fortner, Kyndall Fortner, Cheyenne Fortner, and Noah Fortner; great-grandchildren, Jace Fortner, Jett Howitt, and Mason Fowler; and brother, Ronnie Fortner of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Fortner; and great-grandson, Nixon Fortner. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, July 20, 2018, at Casey Creek Baptist Church, 1199 Casey Creek Rd., Chesnee, SC 29323, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM, conducted by The Rev. Jerry White. Burial, with military rites, will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Martha Fortner.
