Jack Clary

Jack Thomas Clary, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at his home. Born November 17, 1928, in Cherokee Falls, SC, he was the son of the late Albert and Effie Roberts Clary. He was a man of great faith, who was dearly loved by his family and friends. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, Mr. Clary was a 1961 graduate of the University of South Carolina receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He was retired from Milliken & Company after 25 years of service; he also retired from the SC Department of Corrections after 10 years, and was employed with R. L. Jordan for a number of years. Jack was a member of Southside Baptist Church, director of Adult II Sunday School Department, and a member of the Businessmen's Sunday School Class. Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years, Katherine Goforth Clary; sons, Stanley G. Clary and wife Silvia of Spartanburg, SC, and Gregory S. Clary and partner Donna McManus of Charlotte, NC; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben Clary and Marvin Clary, both of Gaffney, SC; and sister, Virginia Edwards of Gaffney, SC. He was predeceased by his brothers, James Clary, John Roland Clary, Billy Clary, and Leroy Clary. Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Southside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson and the Rev. Dr. Herbert C. Garrett Jr. Private burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Hwy, Gaffney, SC 29341.
