Jack Edward Banks, 80, of 1948 Bonner Road, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 25, 1929, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Auburn and Hattie Banks. He was first married to the late Charlotte Reid Banks. He was retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken and attended Orchard Street Baptist Church. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II in the Phillipines, Korea, and Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gowan Banks; three sons, Richard Banks and his wife Michele Ackerman Banks of Lyman, Christopher Banks and his wife Janice of Cowpens, and Edward Banks of La Mesa, CA; one step-daughter, Denna Koepke and her husband Kevin of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Meghanne McDaniels and her husband Caleb of Boiling Springs, Ashley Banks, and Elizabeth Banks both of Lyman; four step-grandchildren, Kristen Thorton and her husband Lee of Inman, Andrea Cantrell of Cowpens, Miranda and Kaitlyn Koepke of Jonesville, and Jon-Paul Guzman of Lyman; and three great- grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Allen Dean Blanton. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, 104 Garner Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
