J. Taylor

James Thomas Taylor, 76, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, February 21, 2010, at his home. Born July 24, 1933, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late James Howard and Sally Steadman Taylor. He was retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 42 years of service and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lucy Sistare Taylor; a son, Tony Steve Taylor and his wife Alicia of Sherrills Ford, NC; two daughters, Vickie Taylor Chappell and her husband Larry of Lyman, and Cindy Lynn Taylor of Spartanburg; a sister, Betty Simms of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. C. Kent Smith. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369; or to a charity of one's choice.
